💛Stand with Maya💛

At The Kent Review, we’re proud to celebrate the people, places, and stories that make our community so special , but sometimes, we share stories that remind us why kindness, compassion, and community matter most.

Twelve-year-old Maya, from Hythe, is facing something no child or parent should ever have to endure. She has relapsed neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Against all odds, she continues to fight , two years after her relapse in 2023, she’s still defying expectations, radiating light and joy wherever she goes.

Her mum, Dellanie Nash, has shared their unimaginable journey ; the long hospital stays, the gruelling treatments, and the daily battle to stay hopeful. The only treatment option left for Maya is CAR T-cell therapy, alongside oral chemotherapy. Their focus now is on time ; precious, quality time, and giving Maya as much life and laughter as possible.

But as they fight for Maya’s life, and try to come to terms with palliative chemotherapy they’re also struggling to keep their home. Between treatment, travel, and rising living costs, the family are finding it harder and harder to cover bills.

💛 Thanks to the support of our readers and advertisers, this issue of The Kent Review has raised £700 towards helping Maya and her family, but they still need our community’s support to keep going.

As Dellanie says:

“Our focus now is not only cure, but time,  precious time, and as much quality of life as we can give her.”

Today -  Saturday 4th October, 12–6 pm, Henry’s Wine Bar & Chocolate Café on Hythe High Street will host ‘Brave the Shave or Wax for Maya’, a heartfelt community fundraiser in her honour.

If you’re able to support — by donating, sharing, or simply sending love please visit the family’s GoFundMe below. Every penny, every act of kindness, and every share makes a difference.
